Friday’s Top 10 Ways to Make the Most of Each Day

You can increase your sales performance significantly just by practicing time management.ย  Time is one of our only resources in short supply.

Today I’m going shareย some strategies for how you can get control of your time.ย

From the Home Office in Lizard Lick, North Carolina

Here are this Friday’s Top 10 Way’s to Make the Most of Each Day

10. Plan your day. โ€œTomorrow begins today.โ€ย

If you wake up in the morning and you havenโ€™t planned the day out, specifically what youโ€™re going to do, guess what? Youโ€™re going to waste.ย

9. Build your plan, work your plan.ย

Youโ€™ve taken the time toย build your plan the night before, then that day you actually work it.ย  You own the day. Donโ€™t let the day own you.

8. Know your numbers.ย

This doesnโ€™t mean your quota.ย This number is theย key metric that you need to hit every dayย to achieve success in your job. An example could be the number of calls you need to make, the number of emails you need to send, or conversations you have to have.

Know your metrics, and that if you hit them, you will be successful.ย

7. Practice the 10:00 AM rule.ย

Take your smartphone and you set the alarm for 10:00 AM.

If I can accomplish something significant by 10:00 AM, I will have made it a great day. On the other hand, if I wait and Iโ€™m about to do something significantโ€”make that big call, work on that important proposalโ€”in the afternoonโ€ฆchances are you wonโ€™t get to it.ย Youโ€™ll wind up pushing it off to the next day.ย

Get it done and get it done before 10:00 AM. This way, even if the day goes poorly, you will have had a good day.ย

6. Block your time and honor your calendar.ย

You block time on your calendar for the prospecting calls, the meetings youโ€™re going to have, but you should also block time with yourself,

5. Schedule meetings with yourself.ย

Thatโ€™s the white space in your calendar. Itโ€™s very important that you schedule meetings with yourself so that you have time during the day to update your CRM system, respond to emails, etc.

4. Reward yourself.ย

Take credit when you accomplish a significant task or activity by turning off work and pursuing something else.

I do this all the time. If Iโ€™ve accomplished something significant, Iโ€™m going to take 10 minutes and just stop. Iโ€™m going to go check ESPN.com or Iโ€™m going to go do something I want to do to reward myself.ย It helps me feel a sense of accomplishment and it gets me back in a groove when itโ€™s time to work again.ย

3. Celebrate the activities and assess your actions at the end of each day.ย

I want you to stop and celebrate your day. I want you to congratulate yourself on the most significant thing you did all day. You may have had a terrible day, but maybe you had one phone call go well. Congratulate yourself.

Then you say,ย what is it I need to do differently?ย What is it that I need to change? This is going to help you withย Number 1, so you can plan what youโ€™ll do differently tomorrow.ย

2. Stay focused on your objectives.

Before each action you do, ask yourself,ย is it going to move me closer to achieving my goals?ย The key is not to be busy. The key is to be productive. Iโ€™m productive when Iโ€™m moving myself closer to achieving my goals.ย

And the #1 Way’s to Make the Most of Each Day is …

1. Be obsessed with your routine.ย

Be obsessed with boredom.ย The most successful, highly productive salespeople I know are extremely routine-oriented, and they do it with vigor every day. Their success is because they do it every day.ย

Itโ€™s like going to the gym. You canโ€™t think youโ€™ll get physically fit by only going once every couple of weeks. Youโ€™ve got to go regularly.

There are many ways to make the most of your day. While it is up to you how you choose to organize your time, these are just a few examples of great ways to ensure that you make the most of each day.

Have a great weekend,

David
