EXPECTATIONS

As you begin new opportunities, itโ€™s important to set high expectations. Far too many people have the โ€œgetting byโ€ mentality. For example, they will set low goals so they can do the least amount of work to get by. There is much more to life than just getting by. You are way better than just being average.

The truth is that we should have high expectations for ourselves. This is how we grow. This is how we achieve the life of our dreams. Having high expectations is what motivates us to strive for success. Setting goals and having high aspirations in life is essential for achieving our dreams.

It all starts with a positive mindset, which will enable you to accomplish your goals. When we expect great things to happen, we must understand that itโ€™s going to require a lot of effort. It all starts with a positive attitude. You have to set challenging goals and have that burning desire to achieve them. When you have high and great expectations, you must believe in yourself and your full potential to succeed.

This mindset motivates you to work harder, and when setbacks come, you will be much more resilient. There are so many benefits when it comes to having high expectations. You will find yourself more motivated to be working towards your goals. You will find yourself feeling more confident about stepping out of your comfort zone.

High expectations will allow you to push yourself to work harder and achieve more. You must understand that setbacks will occur, but you will be more likely to bounce back quickly because you believe that true success is possible.

If you have found yourself having low expectations, you can change that. First, start by setting challenging and realistic goals. This will help you to stretch outside of your comfort zone. When you have challenging goals, you will be much more inspired and you will work harder to achieve them. No matter what happens, always stay positive and always believe in yourself. Keep an attitude of gratitude and surround yourself with positive people that will encourage you and lift you up. Use every setback that comes as a learning experience. Obstacles are not problems. They are opportunities to help you learn and grow. You may need to make some adjustments, but keep working towards your goals.

Most of all, you must take action. Itโ€™s not enough to just set big goals and have a positive attitude. You must be consistent daily in your work habits. Action is the true key to success. Stay committed to your goals and keep applying yourself. In order to live a fulfilling and successful life, you must have great expectations.

The journey may not be easy, but I guarantee you that the rewards are worth the time that you put in. Surround yourself with winners and take steps every day towards your vision of success. No more small time thinking. Itโ€™s time to think big and have great expectations. Youโ€™ve got this!

Happy Selling,

FRIDAY’S TOP 10 Will I Be Successful Prospecting? – Self Evaluation

Over the years, and after working with thousands of salespeople, Iโ€™ve found these ten questions determine your success in prospecting.

Iโ€™m going to walk you through ten questions, and I want you to answer truthfully. The total number of yesโ€™s or noโ€™s are going to help you determine whether or not youโ€™re going to be successful prospecting.

At the end, scroll down to see what your results mean!

From the Home Office in Poughkeepsie, New York

Here are The Top 10 Questions on will I Be Successful Prospecting?

10. Do I have a dedicated time to prospect daily or weekly, and do I honor those times?

People who are successful do not deviate from prospecting. They have a regular time and they stick with it.

9. Do I know the number of conversations I need to have each week to keep my pipeline full?

In other words, salespeople who succeed know the numbers they need to achieve, and theyโ€™re absolutely fixated on achieving those numbers. They know if they do, they can meet or exceed their goals.

8. Do I have a clear definition of who my ideal customer is?

How clear is your ICPโ€”Ideal customer profile? Itโ€™s not just throwing mud against the wall, but rather making sure Iโ€™m absolutely laser-focused on just those who are my ideal customers. Otherwise your pipeline gets clogged with dead ends.

7. Do I have at least five questions I can ask a prospect to engage them quickly?

What am I going to do if they actually answer the phone? I need five questions I can ask a leader or prospect to foster a conversation that will lead to another one.

6. Do I have a clear definition of what it takes to move someone from just a name to a qualified lead?

Do I know exactly what the criteria is that they have to achieve?ย  I have to see something to know this is more than just a name.ย

5. Do I review my prospecting activities before each day to ensure Iโ€™m clear on my goals?

If I donโ€™t know where Iโ€™m starting, and I donโ€™t know where I finish, Iโ€™m lost. Instead, get absolutely focused on what your specific prospecting activities for the next day are. The key is to do it the night before, or work day before. Write it down and youโ€™ll hit the ground running each morning.ย

4. Do I have a defined process to get referrals?

So many salespeople fail to leverage referrals. Thatโ€™s part of prospecting, too.

Referrals are a key way to get more business because theyโ€™re practically pre-qualified.

3. Do I have a detailed follow-up process?

We donโ€™t close deals with one call unless youโ€™re selling pencils. Do I have a very succinct follow-up process as part of my cadence?

2. Is all my prospecting communication centered around the needs of the prospect or are they screaming of how wonderful I am?

Sometimes you can tell this by who talks more on a prospecting call. Do you get caught up talking about your experience or resume, or do you ask questions in order to sit back and listen?

And the #1 FRIDAY’S TOP 10 Will I Be Successful Prospecting is …

1. Do I hold firm to a solid discovery process with any lead before even thinking about a demo?

I donโ€™t try to race forward until Iโ€™ve first done discovery to truly understand what their need is.

If you answered YES to eight or more, youโ€™re a top performer when it comes to prospecting.

YES to five to seven? Youโ€™ve got potential, but you need to step it up.

YESย toย four or fewerโ€ฆย in your current state, you have little chance at being successful.

Ask yourself this question. Was I truthful? Would someone who knows me, or someone who works beside me score me the same way?ย

Have a great weekend,

David

Consistency Pays Off in Prospecting

Good morning everyone,

Remember the old saying the early bird gets the worm? forget the early bird. The most persistent bird gets the worm.

Ask yourself: Am I consistent in how I use my time, how I schedule my time? Am I consistent in how I stay engaged with my customers and how I follow up?

Many salespeople struggling to close deals are simply lacking one thing: consistency.

Consistency in time management.

The most successful salespeople are the ones who are absolutely consistent with their time. I get to work with some absolute top performers in a number of industries, people who are rocking it and commanding massive, massive paychecks. In fact, they all tell me one thing. They say, โ€œDavid, our lives are really quite boring because weโ€™re absolutely consistent with how we use our time.โ€

Theyโ€™re disciplined, theyโ€™re absolutely dialed in, know exactly what to do, when to do it, and they donโ€™t deviate from it. One guy tells me, โ€œEvery morning at nine oโ€™clock, this is exactly what Iโ€™m doing. Every morning at 10 oโ€™clock, this is exactly what Iโ€™m doing. The only deviation is if I happen to be on the road.โ€

Answer yourself this question, are you consistent? Because when you create consistency, itโ€™s amazing how it becomes repetitive.

Consistency in how you prospect.

I see too many people make a bunch of phone calls and then they never come back and follow up. They have one sales call, but theyโ€™re not consistent in their follow-up.

The sale is made in the follow-up. Itโ€™s not made on the first call. Are you demonstrating consistency in your follow-up?

There are so many surveys and studies out there it could make your head spin, but the average customer buys after six or eight calls, but the average salesperson gives up after three or four (or something close to that). Iโ€™m going to venture to say that you are not being consistent enough.

Have something to share every time.

Donโ€™t sit there and say, โ€œMark, I donโ€™t have enough information to share.โ€

Thatโ€™s your problem; you havenโ€™t taken the time to develop the information to share.

Every time I reach out to a customer, Iโ€™m giving them new insights, new messages. Donโ€™t tell me โ€œIโ€™m reaching out to them too often. Iโ€™ve called them five times and theyโ€™re not interested.โ€

Iโ€™ve had many people that Iโ€™ve called numerous times and they totally ignore me, but ultimately they do come back and buy from me and they say, โ€œThank you for reaching out because you stayed consistent. I just never had time to reach out to you, but I do want to talk with you, and nowโ€™s the time I want to.โ€

Pro tip: Use your CRM to set your focus!

If you work diligently at prospecting but the potential buyer does not see the value you bring youโ€™ll get vetted. A great prospecting strategy includes two words: Consistency and Credibility.

You must execute a prospecting strategy consistently.

One More Call: The Power of Making One Extra Sales Call Per Day”

In sales, every call counts. Whether you’re striving to meet your targets, expand your client base, or grow your revenue, making one more sales call per day can make a significant difference. Let’s explore the benefits of making that extra call and share actionable tips to help you incorporate this habit into your daily routine.

The Power of One More Call: Imagine the impact of making just one extra sales call each day. Over the course of a week, a month, or a year, those additional calls can compound into substantial residual results. By reaching out to one more prospect or following up with one more lead, you increase your chances of connecting with potential customers, uncovering new opportunities, and closing more deals in turn giving yourself a raise.

  1. Expand Your Reach: Making one more sales call per day allows you to expand your reach and engage with a broader audience. Whether you’re targeting new prospects or reconnecting with existing contacts, each call represents an opportunity to introduce your products or services, showcase your expertise, and build relationships. By casting a wider net, you increase your chances of identifying qualified leads and generating valuable opportunities for your business.
  2. Accelerate Your Pipeline: Consistency is key in sales, and making one more call per day can help you accelerate your sales pipeline. By proactively reaching out to prospects and nurturing leads, you keep the momentum going and move prospects through the sales process more efficiently. Even if every call doesn’t result in an immediate sale, each interaction contributes to building trust, uncovering needs, and advancing the relationship, ultimately paving the way for future conversions.
  3. Seize Opportunities: In sales, timing is everything. Making one more call per day increases your chances of reaching prospects at the right moment, when they’re most receptive to your message and ready to take action. Whether it’s following up on a recent inquiry, addressing a specific pain point, or capitalizing on a timely opportunity, that extra call allows you to stay top of mind and position yourself as a valuable resource to your prospects.
  4. Cultivate Persistence and Resilience: Making one more sales call per day isn’t just about the immediate resultsโ€”it’s also about cultivating persistence and resilience in the face of challenges. Sales can be a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, and it’s easy to become discouraged when faced with rejection or setbacks. By committing to making that extra call each day, you develop a mindset of resilience and determination, knowing that every effort brings you one step closer to success.
  5. Track Your Progress and Celebrate Wins: As you incorporate the habit of making one more sales call per day into your routine, track your progress and celebrate your wins along the way. Keep a record of your calls, follow-ups, and outcomes to measure your performance and identify areas for improvement. Celebrate each successful connection, meaningful conversation, and closed deal, no matter how small. By acknowledging your achievements, you stay motivated and inspired to continue pushing forward.

Making one more sales call per day may seem like a small change, but its impact can be profound. By expanding your reach, accelerating your pipeline, seizing opportunities, cultivating resilience, and celebrating wins, you position yourself for success in sales. So, pick up the phone, pull that door handle, and make one more call today. Who knows? It could be the call that changes everything.

Happy Selling,

David

Avoid Distractions ย

You have made a commitment and you have a big set of goals that you want to achieve. Perhaps you have been working on some of these goals for a long time. You are doing what it takes to make an impact to achieve those goals. But for some reason, distractions keep getting in the way and slowing or stopping your progress.

This can happen to all of us. Letโ€™s face it, there are a lot of distractions that can reduce our focus and stop us from accomplishing what we want in life. When we allow ourselves to get distracted, it takes away our momentum. When it comes to achieving a goal, you can break success or failure down to either distraction or direction.

Distraction is anything thatโ€™s preventing us from giving our full focus to achieving the goal. Distraction will take you off course and make it impossible to keep your mind focused on your goal.

Direction is a path that leads you to success. When you set goals, you also define the steps that you must take to achieve them. As long as you avoid distractions and stay focused on the direction, your goals can be accomplished. The truth is in most cases, distractions are a choice. Many of us allow ourselves to become distracted, which takes us away from our primary focus. Whether you realize it or not, you have more control over your focus than you might think. Perhaps you have been allowing distractions to get in your way. Now is the time to regain focus and get your productivity back.

Begin by being more mindful about the way you are spending your time. When you become more intentional about avoiding distractions, you will take your focusing skills to a whole new level. Successful people have learned to master their time. They understand that every second counts. If you want to eliminate distractions, you must start your day with a clear success plan. Take the time to set your priorities. By gaining clarity and establishing priorities at the beginning of your day, you position yourself to handle distractions and maintain your focus on what truly matters. You will find as you are working your plan that when blessings are near, distractions will appear.

This is why itโ€™s important to stay focused. So write out your goals and create an environment that reinforces those goals. Connect with some good accountability partners that will remind you to stay clear of bad habits and hold you accountable towards achieving your dreams. Surround yourself with people that are positive and supportive, and stay away from the naysayers. When you achieve a major milestone on your path toward your ultimate goal, reward yourself for your accomplishment. Then get right back to work!

Remember why you began in the first place. You have some incredible dreams and you have been gifted with talent to achieve them. Eliminate all distractions and get focused on what you want to accomplish. Make every second count and go out and make it happen. Youโ€™ve got this!

Donโ€™t allow any distractions to get in your way.

Happy Selling,

David

NO SHORTCUTS

When it comes to achieving success, there are no shortcuts. The price of success is paid through determination and hard work. If you want to succeed in anything that you are doing, you have to make the commitment and go out and make it happen. There truly are no valid shortcuts to success and greatness.

Far too many people are looking for the quick and easy way. If you are looking to find a shortcut, you are simply not working hard enough on the fundamentals. There are no substitute for the basics and that first basic is just simply applying the effort. Iโ€™ve often heard people say that they want to work smart, not hard. If you want to achieve greatness, your philosophy should be to work smart and hard.

All over the Internet, you will find so-called entrepreneurs that are going to teach you tiny tricks to make life and work easier. The truth is, these are just gimmicks which tell us they can reduce our time and effort to achieve our goals by following their simple method. Unfortunately, all this just leads to disappointment.

High-level success takes time. We have to be realistic about how long things will take and we have to be honest about the effort that is required. Once we have established that thereโ€™s no secret shortcut, we have to simply acknowledge whatโ€™s really required and go out and make it happen.

Hard work is what makes achieving a goal motivating and satisfying. There really is no glory in achieving something that anyone can do by following one simple plan. It just doesnโ€™t happen that way. Find out what it is that you would like to accomplish in your life. You can actually give yourself permission to go slow and steady when working toward those goals. Keep putting in the effort and as time goes on, you will get there.

If you have already put together some goals, take a look at them and do some self reflection. Are you putting in the effort that itโ€™s going to take to achieve your dreams?

Perhaps you have found yourself trying to cut corners or looking for the shortcuts to make it go easier and faster. Now Is the time to get rid of that mindset and understand that there are no shortcuts to success. If there was, everyone else would be doing it. Your dreams matter and you have the opportunity to go out and achieve them. Itโ€™s time to take a step back and remind yourself that the easiest and quickest way to success is consistent hard work.

So my reminder for you today, is that there are no shortcuts to success. Works smart and work hard and put in the time and effort thatโ€™s necessary to have your dreams come true. You can do this!
