Good Monday morning everyone. It is 6 or 7 am on Monday morning and you are just laying there in bed. You made 2 sales last week. You don’t have a boss to make you get up at the time you scheduled yourself too and while you certainly don’t have the kind of money you want, you know that over time your residual income will build, so if you can just continue to survive in this business for a few years it will all be worth it. Or are you one of those people who have trouble waking up in the morning with motivation,
If so, trust me you are not alone. There are simple things that you and I can do that will help ensure that we wake up with the proper level of motivation to get us to have a productive, successful day. So, how and why should you get out of bed this morning?
If so, trust me you are not alone. There are simple things that you and I can do that will help ensure that we wake up with the proper level of motivation to get us to have a productive, successful day. So, how and why should you get out of bed this morning?
Here is my list of things that will help you do just that:
First off, Get out of bed immediately
Arguably, the worst thing you can do to your motivation in the morning is to stay lying in your comfortable bed. You will try to debate with yourself, whether you should get up or stay a little longer. Guess which side usually wins?

How do you get yourself out of bed immediately you ask? My trick is to set my phones alarm clock to ring to something annoying. (Family Guy”s Bird is the Word) So that immediately wakes me up and out of bed. I also hear now they make alarms now that bounce around so that you have to get up to catch it…I think that’s pretty clever too! Getting out of bed as quickly as possible is the #1 priority if you want to wake up motivated. It’s the foundation, without that, everything else fails.
Hydrate, Drink a large glass of water
Once you are out of bed, you should drink water as soon as possible. You body becomes quite dehydrated during sleep, and this lack of water in your system causes you to feel fatigue when you wake up. Drink some water, and I guarantee you will feel better and immediately more awake and motivated.

Start Stretching
I remember many years ago, hearing that if you stretch for 5-10 min. every morning you will have a much better day. For some reason, this always stuck with me, and I truly believe that it does wonders for motivation in the morning.

When I say stretching, I don’t mean the quick stretch you do when you get out of bed. I mean, do full stretches of your arms, legs, neck, everything. Stretching increases circulation of the blood to various parts of your body, which is very important in the morning, since your system was down for many hours. This increase in circulation increases energy levels, and energy is crucial to motivation. This 5-10 minutes of stretching in the morning can really make a difference as to what type of day you will have.
Get your Motivation on with Music and a Shower
Listening to your favorite music in the morning or while you shower can help put you in a good mood and get your blood circulating, which will then increase your energy and your motivation. I know I find it very boring in the morning if it’s all quiet. Feeling bored makes you want to go back to sleep! Music helps tremendously in creating an atmosphere that is more fun and more upbeat, which is required to get that motivation in the morning. You can set your alarm to play your favorite song, there are programs that easily do so available on the web, and the easiest way is probably to use your cellphone to play your favorite tune as your alarm ring tone. So soap, shower and get motivated!

Now for the WHYS
Glance at your goals and you see Why
One of our biggest problems in the morning was the fact that we have forgotten all the motivation and all the things we were pumped up to do with our day once we got up.
It was as if we had a case of amnesia and that within the span of sleep, everything that we were so excited about had disappeared. One way to resolving this issue is to look over our goals. Looking at this right away in the morning is a great method to get the right amount of motivation that you and I need to jumpstart our day. Looking at our goals helps us see WHY we need to get up.
You need to keep your sales pipeline full that’s Why. There is nothing more valuable to a sales professional than a full sales pipeline of prospects. If your goal is to make sales, your motivation will go up and down constantly. Once you make a couple sales you no longer feel the need to make more sales or get out of bed. However, if you have had no sales for a week, you turn desperate. Rather than making “sales” your goal, shoot for a full sales pipeline, this goal will provide a steady source of motivation and a reason to work every day. You will know that even after a good couple of days you still need to find new prospects to keep your pipeline full. When you have a tough week, you don’t feel desperate because you know that you already have several good prospects that are going to go with you soon.
You need to form lasting habits that’s Why I recently listened to “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg, and it’s a great audio book. One of your top goals should be to develop effective sales habits. The best one I can think of is the habit of starting work at the same time each day. Don’t allow a good week or even a depressing week to alter your habits of hard work and prospecting. Prospecting and follow up is the life blood of sales!!
Build for the future that’s Why Too many sales partners think only short term and lose motivation when they feel like they have already achieved a short term goal, or worse, when they feel like they cannot achieve one. This is a major mistake because a year from now, your prospecting efforts today will make a big impact. Even if your week is not going well, you never know which prospet you might meet that will add several hundred per month to your income, so don’t give up!
Remember that one Desire
What is that one thing that you want in your life?
What is that one thing that you want in your life?
What is it that you absolutely desire?
Waking up with that one thought in your mind can provide you with the motivation to move mountains! We all have that one “want” or “why” that is the driving force behind everything that we do.
Having this in your mind first thing in the morning can make the difference between a lackluster day and a day where you completed everything that you set out to do.
This desire should never leave you. It should be with you at all times, and particularly as you get out of bed.
This desire should be so grand and so spectacular that it overrides every negative or non-productive thought that may cross your mind in the morning. Think about your one desire and make it the first thought that pops into your head as you open your eyes in the morning, and watch your motivation and sales skyrocket
